Introduction
Brunel University London, founded in 1966, is a university located in Uxbridge, London, UK. It was named after the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel and in 2016, Brunel celebrated 50 years as a university.
The University is organised into three colleges – Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences; Business, Arts and Social Sciences; and Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. It has five major research institutes – Communities and Society; Digital Futures; Energy Futures; Health, Medicine and Environments; and Materials and Manufacturing. It offers degrees in over 40 subject areas.
Brunel opened its Medical School in 2022, located at the heart of the campus close to all the main student amenities. It features state-of-the art learning and teaching facilities including: an anatomy centre; two clinical skills laboratories; a communications skills centre; two simulated hospital wards; as well social space for students and a student support office.
Brunel is a campus-based university, meaning students are never more than 10 minutes away from halls of residence, social and sports facilities, lecture theatres, or the library. With over 4,500 rooms on campus, Brunel guarantees accommodation for all first year students (terms and conditions apply).
The facilities on campus include specialist laboratories for electronic imaging, bioprocessing and experimental techniques; flight, driving and train simulators; a 3D body scanner; an immersive ‘planetarium’ dome; visual effects/green room and a library with over 300,000 books which is open 24/7 during term time.
